So, I am picking up the new outback in Chicago next weekend. I then need to drive down to St. Louis the following weekend. Do the newer cars still need a break in period? What speeds should you keep the car under for how many miles?

I would hate to have to drive the 1998 Ford Escort wagon (grocery getter) to St Louis with the brand new outback sitting in the garage.

Welcome and enjoy. Responsibly. Yeah, right. :D

I would hate to drive a 98 Escort period. I remember when Ford first introduced the car. It had the globe emblem on it. Small and boxey. Sounded like a lawn mower. My dad worked for a Ford dealership and drove one for a week to feel it out. Picture a 245 lb Scott getting in a small box and driving down the road. I made fun of it for about 5 minutes. He didn't think it was funny.
