Hi folks,
I have a 2014 2.5i Premium, and the HVAC fan only works on high. Checked out the resistor and there's no open circuit. Other positions work intermittently and the system goes on and off, with a clicking under the dash, while turning/jiggling the knob. If it's not the resistor what else would cause this? Is the knob itself bad?

You can also check if the resistor is in-spec, not just open circuit. There are four pins. With the side of the resistor that looks like the point of a chevron at your left the following are the pin positions:

1: Upper right
2: Upper left
3: Lower right
4: Lower left

Spec is as-follows:
4-2: Around 0.44 ohm
4-3: Around 1.12 ohm
4-1: Around 2.92 ohm

If you need a new part this is the part number: 73532AJ00A (2010-2019 Subaru Blower Motor Resistor 73532AJ00A | Subaru Online Parts Store)

Thanks, I confirmed it is in spec. Also the behavior is the same with the resistor out.. Clicking under the dash and the AC light goes on and off while jiggling the knob. What else should I be looking for?

Yeah likely the control panel. Check the resistance on the blower switch pins. With the notch of the 6-pin connector pointing up these are the positions:

1 upper right, then 2, then 3 upper left
4 lower right, then 5, then 6 lower left

Spec:

Speed set to 1: 1 - 2,4 less than 1 ohm
Speed set to 2: 1 - 3,4 less than 1 ohm
Speed set to 3: 1 - 4,6 less than 1 ohm
Speed set to 4: 1 - 4,5 less than 1 ohm
