I apologize for so many questions.

I started in to my 07 2.5 I 5 speed manual outback. We bought this a few days ago and it had a light tap sounding like a lifter. I understand they dont have lifters. I suspected loose valve clearance or timing belt tensioner causing the sound. I took the cam off and noticed this wear mark on the cam bearing on the head side. The opposite side of the cam housing shows no wear. Is this of concern? I feel no drag with my fingernails.

It's not great, but there's not a whole lot you can do about it. Looks like some debris was caught in there too.

Any wear on the front or rear journals?

Very little on the others. On this head. I haven't opened the second up yet. Do you think this could be the ticking sound source?
