Cam Carrier reseal is covered by lifetime warranty...

Just thought I'd share with anyone interested on items the lifetime warranty covers on a 2015 OB.

Brought my car into the dealer to have them do a transmission fluid change and they gave me a list of repairs they recommended, including a "Cam Carrier Reseal" and a new idler pulley. Did some research and a leaking cam carrier is common with these engines, but usually not a big concern. The dealer informed me that the Cam Carrier repair (which involves dismantling the front of the engine and applying a new sealant bead, which acts as a gasket, to prevent oil leaks), was covered by the warranty.

The repair would of been over $3K but turns out it is covered by the lifetime warranty. The idler pulley replacement is also covered. The brake fluid flush is not covered, neither is the tranny fluid change, which I figured.

Could you explain what this life time warranty is? Did you purchase this warranty or it’s available for all owners?
It was purchased when the car was purchased.
Was it an added warranty purchase or the normal warranty.

There's no such thing as "the" lifetime warranty. Subaru doesn't cover anything for the life of the vehicle. Any such warranty will be dealer-specific and guaranteed to have plenty of gotchas to ensure profitability. If you're considering one then be sure to study the terms. Seems at least some members with so-called lifetime warranties never even bothered to get the terms in writing, and in other cases dealerships are refusing to provide them.

Is the warranty specific to the dealership where they have their own as long as you have all services done at the dealership per their schedule and not necessarily the OEM one? This isnt a SOA warranty or is it a third party one?
That's obviously not relevant here but let me know when one fails on you.
I had the driver's belt replaced for free under lifetime warranty on the previous Wanderlust. It didn't snap but it was badly worn & edge-frayed. The dealership that replaced it informed me that all Subaru seat belts & shoulder harnesses regardless of age are freebies, as they're considered essential safety equipment under US law.

i understand that folks may not consider this relevant to cam carriers. I was addressing your statement that nothing was covered by a lifetime warranty.
