I just got a 2018 3.6r Limited Outback.

1. If I turn off the radio when the car is running, it turns off normally. Then when I turn the car off, the radio comes back on!

2. Whenever I start the car, the radio comes on even if I had it turned off. This happens whether I have clicked the off button to turn off the radio or if I held it down long enough to get a blank screen.

3. If I am listening to an Audio book on a USB iPod and turn the car off, it switches over to the radio after the car is turned off.

Either I have a really weird, faulty radio, or Subaru doesn't test out their electronics even a little bit. Hopefully it's the former, because I'll have to get rid of this car if the radio comes on every time I stop the engine.

You aren't stupid... subaru is. This is a deliberate "feature". Your radio will turn on to the last set station/disk/source that it was on when you turned off the ignition. It is a mindlessly dumb feature. Complain to subaru. It affects all models, not just the outback.
