Anyone have ideas on how to get inexpensive replacement keys made, including programing and cutting? I've seen some blanks on eBay, but they still need programming and cutting.

The dealer, when trying to sell me some crap along with extended warranties and all, tried to sell me a key replacement package. I asked what it cost to have a key made - he told me $350!

I also read you also have to reprogram your entire set of keys each time a new one is made.

Everything I have seen reported around here was spendy. Dealers have you by the short ones for programming. All keys are needed for programing.

I noticed that my local ACE Hardware had a setup where they claim they can make a modern car key, including copying the programing from your existing key and copying your keyfob. They only want $35 for each key.

I have no idea of it works or not, but it may be worth looking into.

ACE told me they could not do my Subaru key. An eBay seller that sold blanks wrote that it either needs to be done by a dealer, or a locksmith that has special equipment.
