I recently bought a 2001 Outback. It failed inspection because somebody had removed the check engine light. But I have a trusty mechanic friend and after replacing the light and doing some repairs (Knock sensor, evap) it runs great. Only problem is that we discovered why they must have removed the light. We still have a code for Vent Control Circuit Open (I think p0447) which keeps the light on. We replaced the Evap valve in the rear of the vehicle and it ohm tests fine along the wiring harness but somewhere between the part and the computer in the front theres a disconnect. Has anybody had this kind of problem with the check engine light/computer/wiring before?
