I just purchased both the Chilton and Haynes Manuals for my 96 Outback 2.2L Manual. For my particular model, the Chilton is from 1985(!!!!) to 1996. It's frustrating because most of the photos are from other models. Haynes, however is 1990-1998 and it seems to be the better manual of the two. I bought them because I thought I had to change out my a/c compressor because a lying mechanic told me so... fortunately I tried charging it before paying him $800 (never go to PacicRim Auto if you're in Seattle). Any feedback on other books? I saw the techinfo.subaru.com site via another thread, I'd probably go there if it wasn't in either book.

I think for paperback resources, that's it. Besides the factory service manuals that I bought for my specific year (from Subaru~$300) And the Tecnical info Subaru site is great also. Brian
