A friend with a '17 has to carry something that will stick out of the tailgate opening and was asking me how to close the power tailgate partway and keep it there for the duration of the trip -- sort of like how you'd hold the manual gate down with a couple of bungee cords.

It looks to me like you can only do this by closing it manually to the point where you want it to stay. Is this correct? How hard is it to close it manually -- I haven't tried it yet on mine?

Just pull the gate handle slowly. Then u can tie it down.

I think you can use the Memory function as well so the lift gate only opens so far and then stops.

If he has the automatic gate, just hit the button again (either on the gate or the fob) when it gets to the height he wants it and it will stop.
