In my OB I notice each time I put the car into Reverse I get a MEAN clunking sound (4 Speed AT). Whenever I have to drive my car somewhere the parking brake is engaged, I set the gear selector to wherever I need to go (foreword or backward) then disengage the parking brake. Does this method put an excessive amount of stress on the transmission or the mounts?? The clunking sound is louder when the car is fairly cold but if I'm driving around and go to the store park it, then eventually have to leave the clunk is less noticeable. There was another method for "muffle" the clunk as well: Put the gear selector in P, 3, then R and see if the clunking is still there. Checking underneath the car I notice the trans mount has rubber material on the inside (maybe OEM mount?) Should I replace it with something else or am I overreacting?

Reading that forums seems like a transmission mount is a good way to go. I'll be buying the all metal "U" shaped mount and will see how this clunk solves anything.
There is No aftermarket upgraded mount produced for the 4/5EAT, like they make for the manual. There is a Russian mfg developing one though.

But hey, this guy makes these...for the exact reason you have illustrated.

Except its been almost 3 years, and I could barely get anyone to trade me something. So, I don't give them away anymore. I sell them for $25.

I have 3 dutrometers and many colors available.

You're telling me that this mount won't suffice? https://www.amazon.com/Anchor-9074-Transmission-Mount/dp/B000CRB1F4

Did you need some sort of press to insert that plastic piece in?

Well that is just a new mount. OEM replacemnt, but not an upgrade. My insert fills those hollow voids. The stock replacement will most likely solve your issue. I thought you were trying to order one of these or something....

My insert helps with extra movement that still remains in the stock mount. I install the inserts using a bench vise. I have others that jack up the transmission a bit with everything in the car, it stretches the opening a little and they use a clamp.

One of the XRT members is a young guy, he works out. He just used his hands while in the waiting room for an alignment....
