I am getting what feels like clutch chatter on downshifts and in some 1st gear launches in my '97 LW Brighton 2.2l w/ 101,000 miles. Anyone else experience this?

No noise, but more a bouncy feeling in clutch pedal

Thanks. I had seen this thread and would agree if the chatter was on launch (under power) only. But the chatter is felt is mostly on downshifts, when no power is applied. Bad/worn pressure plate?

Hmmm, I don't know enough about clutches to tell you there. I've always thought that was a subaru thing so I've just gotten used to it in my car - maybe I'm wrong! Do you have any other clutch problems? I.E. Squeak when pedal not depressed, slipping in high gears?

Thanks for your comments. There are no other clutch issues so maybe it is like you say: "a Subaru thing". My other Suby is A/T so I cannot compare. I will drive it until......
