Back in my Gen2 while the Preza in getting worked on. I turned this car over to my wife a few months ago, used to be my DD. Noticed a few strange failures yesterday, now that I?m driving. Several interior lights are no longer working- heated seats, heated side mirrors, noticed the autodiming mirror is no longer showing compass/temp. Most curious/frustrating- since it?s Texas in November it was 91 degrees yesterday. When I turned the AC on I heard the compressor kick on, the blend doors move position and the fan indicator in the hvac display move from 1-2-3-4.... but no air flow. Working fine the day before now dead. Is there an electrical connection between these seemingly disparate failures? @plain OM @idosubaru

I work long shifts and get home after dark. I'm smashing some dinner down right now then heading out with my head lamp on to start investigating fuses

how is the battery / battery wires/ alternator.

do you get any of those back if you attempted to jump the car with a known good battery?
Haven't specifically checked any of these out lately, as there have been no issues starting or weird dash lights popping on but they are on the list to check here in a moment (Brake, ABS, VDC, CEL... things that other posts mention around a failing Alt)

If only all things in life were this simple.

Nice job @subnz

Fuse#4 Labeled as "Cigar Mirror"

Pulled it and found a winner. Replaced with 20a fuse already waiting in the cargo hold along with other various tools/parts. Everything came right back to life, including the presumed-dead usb phone charger that was plugged in the "Cigar Lighter" -I guess this car did Retail at $40,000 2001 Dollars...a lot more in today's dollars-

Now the connection between this "Cigar Mirror" fuse and some of the odd things that blinked out is still puzzling me, but at least it's all back in order. Would not have guessed that the Heated Seat switches, Mirror and "Cigar Lighter" all shared the same 20a fuse in common with the Blower Fan. I guess this exercise serves as a good lesson on simple fuses to check at the beginning of a Blower Fan problem diagnostic

2001 Subaru Outback options, prices, all currrent and older Subarus Outbacks Foresters Imprezas Bajas

my 2002 h6 vdc wagon, had catalog options on it when I got it, driven by some subaru corp person for 15,000 miles before I got it
(wing, rear gate bar, mats, bug shield). ... I think the original sticker came up past $34000 with destination.

Where was yours originally purchased? I think in my stack of history is the original bill of sale... this one also had some catalog options- wing, mats, cargo nets, hitch... I know the original owner purchased or was incentivized with an extended warranty. The TC and Tranny were replaced for 'free' around year 8 with a little over 100k miles if I'm remembering the invoice

I got it at a local dealer,...but they had 10 other corp subaru demos on the lot at the time. the rest of them were H4s of various grades. mine was the only VDC,...and the dealer owner's wife was intending to keep it. I paid about 27,000.

it had 15,000 on it. over 8 months of existence. so I figure the corp person that had it must have been the one driving to cut ribbons and complain about poor coffee from dealer to dealer. (this would have been used from the subaru corp office in cherry hill, NJ ...and trucked up to the hudson valley for sale).
