I have an 08 limited that is driving me crazy! I noticed a "chirping" like noise coming from the glove box/passenger dash area the other day. I took the entire passenger side glove box trim out exposing what I thought would be a straight forward noise test and find, but not the case. AC blows cold, heat works, all AC modes work without noise (seems as though some other people hear the doors open and close for foot-defrost-chest modes), but mine is not making any of those noises. The chirp exists with AC on or off, circulation or re-cirulation on or off.
The noise is only heard in low rpm when shifting into next gear (2nd to 3rd shift, I hear it once 3rd engages and only for 4-5 seconds until rpms reach greater than 3500rpm or so). The noise stays on in 4th gear when cruising due to the RPMs remaining in that less than 3500 zone.
As soon as I take my foot off the gas, noise is GONE... tap the gas pedal for a sec, noise is there again, let off gas noise gone...
Is there a unit in passenger side dash area that spins or moves with the RPM of the motor? It sounds like its coming from the glove box, but like I said, I took all of that out and drove car around the problem was still there.
While I had glove box out, I replaced my in cabin filter and it was FILTHY! I dont know if that could cause anything. Also, I live in a VERY humid area, and I am second owner. So if AC was run heavily from 1st owner, maybe this is the blower motor?? I am out of my knowledge realm on this one...
Sorry for the ranting and the length of this post, but this noise is driving me CRAZY and I need to fix it asap! Please, any input is welcomed with open arms. Thanks!
