On my 2001 outback when going over speedbumps or similar, there is a creaking sound from the front end. Just wondering if anyone had experienced this or if it might be a bushing or something that needs to be lubed or one of the plastic trays underneath that is loose.

Usually that can be heard when it gets cooler outside. I think it is the rubber bushings and such on your undercarriage. I've had that prob on other vehicles. Just a bunch of suspension flex going on and the creaks to go with it, mainly in the cold. Where are you geographically? Brian

Creaking over speedhumps is usually sway bar bushings. Lubricating them will usually help.

Hi All...new to this NG.

I've got the same type of problem when hitting speed bumps and dips but my sound is more like a chirp than a creaking noise. I can't isolate it since it only happens when driving. You all think I've got the same prob and need the similar remedy.

TIA....bgin

Mine has had a minor front-end creak for years, it's only occasional, and doesn't seem to cause any harm.
