Greetings, fellow 4th gen owners. Today, a new minor but annoying issue popped up with my 2012. I noticed a metallic rattle coming from the rear of the roof every time I hit an expansion gap or bump. When I got home, I checked the roof rack, and sure enough, the left rear crossbar latch has some up-down play in it that none of the other points seem to have. The thing is, I tried unlatching it, and it won't completely unlatch. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? It is super-cold here right now, so I'm wary of doing anything that risk breaking something, but I was thinking of just shimming it with some cardboard to stop the rattle - it resonates through the roof and is surprisingly annoying.

Super cold means contraction...maybe enough so that this is rattling around some. Can the gap be filed by putting a thin rubber washer in there?
