It’s a long story, but I bought my first Subaru last April. As it would turn out, previous owner took some shortcuts when maintaining the car and left me with quite the mess.

Suspected problems with the head gasket when the car was overheating last fall. Tried to do a compression test when I found that two of the four coils had been broken and then glued to the wire harness. Was able to remove the spark plug on the third cylinder, but no luck on the fourth. Recently noticed a pretty severe misfire and in conjunction with some other symptoms, suspect a vacuum leak.

I would like to remove the spark plug and coil so that I can run a leak down test. Ideally, I’d like to avoid having to replace the wire harness and coils. Any recommendations?
