defrost circuit forced on during remote start

I am going to have a remote start installed in my 2012 Outback since it will be parked outside all winter here in Minnesota.
The place that will install can do some extra wiring that will turn on the back window defroster, heated mirrors and front window defroster every time it is remote started.
Any known problems in doing this? I only remote start a hand full of times during the summer to cool down the car before I get into it. The heating elements would be on then also until I enter the car and turn them off.

Thoughts?

install the factory remote start, i believe it does it automatically based on outside temp
I think that only applies to the limited models.
The model of remote start I have on my Accord gives me the option to turn on the defroster circuit. Are you sure that it automatically turns it on every time you remote start the car?

I THINK it will turn on the rear window defrost on my Premium. I never had a chance to try it last year (VERY mild winter in NY last year). If you want the front defroster on when you remote start a Premium you have to set the controls before shutting off the engine the previous time you use the vehicle.
Mine turns it on below 37 degrees but I have a limited with ACC. Not sure about base and premium with manual cc.
My 2012 is a premium with the winter package. The defrost circuit has side view mirrors, front windshield base defrost and rear window defrost on it. Even if the button is lit when you turn the car off, it resets the circuit to off. I did have a remote start installed and the technician was able to get the defrost circuit to go on. I chose the Python Responder one. (made by the same company as Viper)

Mine was installed by Mobile Enhancements in South St. Paul Minnesota: Welcome to mobile-enhancements.com!
They do great installs and are very inexpensive. I got the whole thing done, with bypass unit so I did not have to give up a key for $275.00
Highly recommend them, have had two remote start systems installed by them in Subaru outbacks.
I have the factory remote start on my 2013 Outback and I love it. I'm just confused why it has to turn my engine off when I open the door. Does anybody else's remote start do this? What's the purpose? Is there a way to bypass it?

Now back to the main topic, how do I find out if my car automatically turns on my defroster if its cold out?

Sit in the car and have someone outside of the car remote start it.

and the answer is?

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I couldn't find an answer by searching, and this seems to be better than starting a new thread.

We just picked up our new 2014 3.6r limited SAP w/ OEM remote start. Will the OEM remote start activate the rear defrost, heated mirrors and wipers automatically? It would be a fairly significant limitation if it did not.

I'd just like to know what its capable of. I assume that it will activate the automatic climate control based on the prior settings, so the cabin will warm up in the winter or cool down in the summer. I had no desire to get remote start, but the car the dealer found for us had it.
I believe that it does, if it is cold enough. Sitting in an attached Garage would normally not qualify.
My 2013 limited with factory remote start automatically turns on defrost when cold enough. I think you do need to have your climate control on auto or full auto though.. could be wrong as I'm almost always in that mode anyways, but for sure the defrost will come on when needed by remote.

It will with the ACC as long as it's below a certain temp. If you park in a garage its possible it won't get cold enough for that. An added bonus, once you restart the car after entering it, the rear defrost automatically comes back on if it was on during remote start.
