install the factory remote start, i believe it does it automatically based on outside temp
I THINK it will turn on the rear window defrost on my Premium. I never had a chance to try it last year (VERY mild winter in NY last year). If you want the front defroster on when you remote start a Premium you have to set the controls before shutting off the engine the previous time you use the vehicle.I think that only applies to the limited models.
look here: http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums...lution-car-shutting-off-when-door-opened.htmlI have the factory remote start on my 2013 Outback and I love it. I'm just confused why it has to turn my engine off when I open the door. Does anybody else's remote start do this? What's the purpose? Is there a way to bypass it?
It will with the ACC as long as it's below a certain temp. If you park in a garage its possible it won't get cold enough for that. An added bonus, once you restart the car after entering it, the rear defrost automatically comes back on if it was on during remote start.Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I couldn't find an answer by searching, and this seems to be better than starting a new thread.
We just picked up our new 2014 3.6r limited SAP w/ OEM remote start. Will the OEM remote start activate the rear defrost, heated mirrors and wipers automatically? It would be a fairly significant limitation if it did not.
I'd just like to know what its capable of. I assume that it will activate the automatic climate control based on the prior settings, so the cabin will warm up in the winter or cool down in the summer. I had no desire to get remote start, but the car the dealer found for us had it.
