Detailed my car today

As many of you know, it's been super hot this summer. I'm a detailer and I usually wash my car once a week and wax it once a month, but after working in no air all day, all I want to do is relax on the weekends. On top of that, I seem to have some magic power because whenever I wash the car, it rains!

Anyway, today is finally nice with low humidity and it should stay nice for a few days. While I've had my car 3 weeks, I've only washed it once and put 2 quick coats of wax on it.

Here is what I did today:
wash with meguiar's ultimate wash and wax
wax with meguiar's NXT Tech Wax 2.0 and Zymol (be very careful with this. It flakes and will leave white streaks if not properly taken off. It works great though)
spray wax: meguiar's nxt tech wax spray wax
tire shine: meguiar's high endurance tire gel applied with an applicator pad
plastic protection: Aerospace 303 protectant. A friend of mine recommended this and I see others on here have used. This stuff works great! I should have taken a 50/50 shot to show the difference. It seems to work better on the wheel arch molding than the other plastic, but it still makes it look great! I'll be using this when I detail cars.

Questions/comments welcome!

I also noticed a neighbor around the corner traded his 06 Gold OB for a Graphite Gray 13. Looks like I'll have to make a new friend.

pics: 3rd is supposed to show off the metallic, but the sun didn't cooperate. Last one is a reflection shot and my favorite!

...I started yesterday...then it rained so I have to start again. I hate it when that happens.

Nice hotwheels plate of the front. :29:
This may be a stupid question but can you wax a car too much? Can this cause wax build up?

Thanks!

Last sunday I washed my mom's elantra you can see in one of the pics. I literally finished drying it off and this dark cloud moved over and rained just enough to spot up the car. I think if people would just wash their cars more often, it would take care of the drought:p.

No, it will not harm the paint. I'll admit I'm OCD with the cars and doing it every month is alittle much(especially since it's in the garage at night), but atleast I know the car is protected and it looks good. It also helps shows less dirt too.

The one thing you want to be careful of is the plastic cladding. That zymol wax will turn it white as will others. The meguiar's wax I use actually doesn't do that for some reason.

We have a guy at my work( a car dealership) who is going on working there 55 years. To keep active during the day, he'll go out and throw a coat of wax on his 06 Elantra GT. If wax ruined a paint job, his car would be toast! His car looks almost showroom new after over 90k miles.
Thanks, I have to get some of that Meguairs nxt - can you just use the nxt w/o the zymol? I like that it will not stain the plastic.

sure you can...

Yep, you don't have to even use what I used. I prefer meguiar's, especially their NXT line. Makes the paint look "wet" and it beads up very nicely. Believe it or not Lowe's or Walmart seems to be the cheapest place to get it.
Hi- In my less than 1 day old car, I found a very small paint chip on one of the door edges (hinges side).. Very sad...:-(
It is probably 2 millimeter long. Any cheap fixes?
I suggest just going and getting touch up paint. That's probably the cheapest fix.

As I was detailing my 2 day old OB yesterday I found a chip also (on hatch). I'm taking it back to the dealer this week to have them look at it.

I also used Meg's products, but used the Ultimate Liquid Wax and loved the fact that it did NOT stain the plastic.
