Hi,:)
I am thinking about getting a dirt bike carrier with a 2" hitch, as above, and mount it on my 2013 outback. My bike weights about 300 pounds. Since Subaru recommends a Max tongue load capacity of 200 lbs, I am not sure what to do?! I'm confused because on internet, like etrailer, I noticed they make trailer hitches for outback with 350 Max tongue load. Way more than the 200lb recommended! So WTF?... you know what I mean?
Any ideas gents?

Yup get a folding bike trailer. Or fully expect a bent OB sort of in the shape of an upside down Banana. Those hitch carriers are for full frame SUV and pickups not unibody cars with 200lb max limit tongue limits. Not to mention the added levered load effect that this type of carrier would have.

You can get a cheap $400 Harbor Freight trailer. Very popular at my club for hauling the small sailboats. I have a bunch of neighbors who use them for their dirt bikes. A few of them have mounted Rubbermaid type boxes for their tools - fuel and gear also.

Common misconception. The hitch may be good for 350, but the car is good for 200. So when you put 300lbs on, the car will break before the hitch does.

Get a trailer.
