Alright. Got the heads, headgaskets, valve cover, rear main, thermostat, PCV, and probably something else I'm forgetting.

Will try and get it all in this weekend and get it back in the car Monday.

I bought these: NGK 2382

There seems to be an error in the listing. It says 4 pack count of 1. The review said it was just 1.

I thought the price was mostly in line with Rock Auto so I ordered 4.

I received 6 4 packs. So for $15 shipped I got 24 NGK plugs.

$3.50 for a 4 pack of NGK plugs is fantastic. Too good to be true?

There was a recent thread here about clones but using the information there they still seem to be the genuine article.

How can you tell the difference between real plugs and fakes?

I was referring to this thread:


Counterfeit copper plugs seems like a...waste of time? Surely there is better ways of making money?

But not sure.

The fact that they're as cheap as they are just worries me some.

How long do copper spark plugs last? I haven't used those in probably 20 years.

30,000 miles. 48,000 kilometers.

but at @Brucey and Bender's Parts Emporium can sell them 2 sets for the price of 1. (and you get about 60,000 -70,000 miles on a set of NGK plug wires.)

For a gear head like you who enjoys changing spark plugs just for fun Copper is the ticket!

For those of us who might have to pay someone $300.00 or more to change plugs for us it could be penny wise and pound foolish. Are there platinum/iridium/ruthenium plugs that would work in your engine? Now that I think of it I think the last time I used copper plugs was around 1985.

up market is G-power but those are only single platinum not double platinum, (not sure how much better up market is,....like trying to go 60,000 miles on a set of plugs and wires)

but if anyone reading is actually wondering, NGK has a phone line that they answer quickly.
I called them before about EZ30 plug options = 60,000 miles best use time, on a subaru test of the double platinum, and a NGK test for 55,000 best use time on the then new NGK Iridium IX.

Welp. Got the heads on and started to time the motor.

Water pump is wrong. It doesn't have the outlet for the oil cooler.

Going to see if I can't source one locally.

what stock # did you buy, and what do you need ? I noticed Rockauto did not have any Aisin for my 2009 impreznator project.

Rock Auto has a Aisin TKF-006 for $206 plus tax / shipping, minus - the code discount.
(they must have gotten more in stock since yesterday...good for 2006-2010 forester EJ253)

(amazon wants $248,...and some group of jerks using the Aisin stock # for $114)

I'm just deleting the oil cooler.

Less problems and chances of leaks.

Oil cooler deleted.

Super easy. Just take a threaded insert from one without to replace the cooler and use a freeze plug.

Less hoses clamps and gaskets to go wrong.

Got the heads on. Taking my time recompressing the tensioner.

Also if anyone is interested I made a video on the carpet cleaner I got for this car but will likely be using a lot of in the future.
