Hello everyone,
I loaned my 2003 Outback to my friend last week, and when I got it back the exhaust looked like this. The resonator has broken off of its flange and is being held up by coat hangers. The mating catalytic converter flange is intact.
What have others done to repair this specific joint? I am considering getting a new OEM gasket, taking off the broken flange, and replacing it with a split flange, would that work? Would the gasket still have a surface to seal against on the resonator side?
Or would I be better off replacing the exhaust? I have heard that aftermarket pipes tend to rust more.

I fixed mine with a split flange repair thing. Call me cheap, but for me converters ETC was very expensive.
