Eyes on the road

Anyone know what is happening when you get the keep your eyes on the road message (even though you are looking ahead at the road)? I’m assuming there is an internal camera looking at me and misinterpreting, but anyone know what generally causes it? It’s a bit annoying at times.

I think it's trying to tell me I need brow lift surgery.... wonder if it's covered under SOA warranty 😔......
Dont know if it was the eye sight or the radar, but it jammed on the brakes for a buzzard eating road kill.
That'll happen when you ask your pleasure screen for "good restaurant near me".

Today I got a message to keep my hands on the wheel. They were on the wheel, maybe the pressure was just too light?

This is my pet peeve too. The irony is that I am moving the wheel exactly where Subaru thinks it should go - and it bitches. Usually seems to be right-hand curves, although left-hand curves can set it off.

The other complaint is the "Roads may be icy" warning. Yeah: Colorado. Mountains. Winter. Early morning. Snow on the ground, even. Maybe it's to get my eyes down to that camera (as if that would be "eyes on the road").

My 2020 Outback in full adaptive cruise with lane centering just requires a very light, even one finger, on the steering wheel. The car does the steering and it just makes sure you are there. It starts to complain in about 10-15 seconds if you take your hand completely off the wheel, then it gives you an audible and screen message. I never let it go beyond the next stage of more flashing warnings. I suspect it might stop the car. A friend has a Nissan Leaf and he did fall asleep with it turned on, and the car did come to a stop. This is a very worthwhile feature and shows you how future cars will work autonomously.
It happens to me sometimes when I wear my glasses. Also when I'm tired and my eyes are not wide open apparently. Very annoying.
