Greetings,

I'm a new outback owner, got a N/A 2003 automatic with 72,000miles on it I just bought the car a few days ago and it makes a sort of flutter noise when the gas pedal is pressed, it gets loader the more you press it however speed/gear/rpm does not effect the noise just when I press the pedal.

I can't figure out where exactly its coming from because i cannot get it to make the noise loud enough in neutral with the hood open since it revs to quick with little throttle applied.

If anyone has any idea's what this could be or anything I can try to further diagnose this please lemme know. Thanks.

Its an H4, after driving it around a bit more today the sounds does seem to get louder and speed up when RPMs go up, however only when i'm on the pedal. So if I drop the gear and coast it makes no noise at all until i push the gas down, then at that point i cant tell if its loud because i have to push the pedal down to achieve the higher RPMs, or if its because the RPMs are high.
