i drive a 98 legacy outback 66kmiles.after i've been driving around quite a bit, all things up to temp, i hear an intermittent horrible squeak at low speeds. It is definately induced and removed by braking. As in, i can lightly tap the brakes to make it turn on and off. could something just need lube? if so, what then?

My 98 did that when the front brake pads were due for replacement. I let it go until I heard a grinding noise; look that thread up and you can see a pic of one of the pads I took off.
