Hey guys I am thinking of replacing my filler neck, which one is right for our cars? There are 2 on RockAuto and I don't know which one is right for me.

One is a single vent and the other is a 2 vent filler neck.

Thanks for any help!

It's actually neither. I recently had to do mine (99 outback limited 2.5) and those don't fit. The one that I found that fits is to the impreza 2.5.

Will do, thanks alot 99OutbackLimited! I have never seen that, can I ask ya 2 quick questions please: is that the valve that opens when you fill up and all the fumes will go down into the intake and where is it located on the car?
These two links are very helpful:
Fuel Filler Neck- what is that thing on the side called? - 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX - Ultimate Subaru Message Board

The valve is located near the top of the filler neck. It will be very easy to spot where it goes because there will be two welded screws sticking out with a big hole in the middle of an odd shape.

Did a check engine light code lead you guys to consider this replacement? I'm getting a P0440. I don't want to throw parts at it so I might take it to smoke machine either way.

BTW 99OutbackLimited, it looks like we have the same car, right down to the color.
Yeah it did. Take off your passenger side rear wheel (by the fuel door). If you look to the left of the suspension, you will see a large plastic piece jutting out that is attached by two or three hex/phillips head screws. Note that these may break when you try to get them out but they are only attached to the filler neck so if you are replacing it, no biggie. When you take the plastic off be ready for tons of dirt to come out. I probably had roughly 4-5 pounds of very hard/ solid brick-like dirt come out. After you clear off the dirt, you will be able to see if you have a hole somewhere. My filler neck was literally head together by the dirt.... when I took it out, it came out in 4 pieces. :crying: Make sure to note where your fuel lines run to in regards to the neck and valve so you put it back together correctly.

It is also recommended to take the plastic off once a year or maybe when you rotate your tires and clean the crud out that builds up behind it. Hopefully this will prevent future issues and make the filler neck last longer.
