The security module contains a shock sensor, and when mounted to the steel bracing of the dash picks up physical vibration and noise. If you have one of the H7110LSx00 modules installed, where X = 1, 2, 3 or 4, you should already have the hardware. There is a sensitivity pot mounted in a totally inaccessible part of the module, and you might find that it has gone deaf and needs to be tweaked.

If it was mounted per the factory instructions, then yes, it will be next to the car radio, and you will have to do dash disassembly and may have to pull it out in order to get to the adjusting screw.

I thought the mounting spot to be so ridiculous that I put mine down at the base so that I only have to remove one trim panel for access and adjustment. Works great. I actually had to turn down my sensitivity, as it's more 'plugged in' to the body structure.
