Like many people before me, I was a bit wary about having my OB ECU tuned by XRT. After reading the many feedback associated with Edward's work, I decided to hop on the train and get it done. After getting around setting my laptop to speak to my car through the Tactrix cable, me and Edward realized that my ROM was not supported. I thought this was the premature end to my OB tuning but Edward reassured me that he could build the definition and work with it. After he sent me the definition for my ROM, I started logging information and sent him the base logs. Nearly an hour after I was done, I was surprised with the v0 of my new ECU. At the end of our first day of work, we were already at v2 with already so many major changes to the car. The throttle has so much response now that I am actually saving gas in the city. The transmission shifting is much smoother and is also much quicker to drop in lower gears when you floor for a quick overtake. I feel now that I have a much better control over my car. We are not done yet with our tuning, but we are getting there (currently still on v2).
Edward is a pleasure to work with and as others previously stated, the guy never sleep! Wether you're a knowledgable mechanic or a newbie like me, Edward easily adapts to its clients and can answer your every concern. I'd really wish I could exchange a good handshake with him once we're done tuning my OB.

No problems. I hope it would be a good reflection of the job you’ve done!
“My great appreciation goes to Edward for the job hi’s done tuning ECU for my car. My story began few month ago when I sold my beloved 3GEN 2.5i Liberty and upgraded to 4GEN 2.5i. What was supposed to be an upgrade, left me with a bitter disappointment of 4GEN performance compare to 3GEN. Car was sluggish on response, slow to accelerate and had a noticeable lag in acceleration during gear shift. After few days searching through internet forums I came across posts describing similar situations and the way to fix the problem was custom ECU re-flash. That’s how I came across with ECU tuning service provided by XRT. I made final attempt to rectify issue at Subaru dealer service, they had injectors serviced, did upper engine clean, checked spark plugs, reset TCU and told me that as far as they concerned car is operating within manufacturer specification (i.e. it’s still sucked to drive it). I had contacted Edward, described him my situation and got an answer I hoped for – problem can be addressed by custom ECU tuning. I got a list of things I needed to begin the tune from Edward. When I was ready to start, he connected to my laptop remotely and configured it, so it was easy as a breeze. V0 ROM he prepared for me brought back that excitement I had driving my beloved 3GEN. My 4GEN Liberty became more aggressive, it wanted to jump when I pushed accelerator, lag of power and acceleration disappeared. It was fun do drive this car again. V0 was a bit rough on AT, so occasionally I felt knocks during gear shift, but v1 ROM has addressed this and made AT shifting nice and smooth. The real joy was brought by v2. First notable thing was that gear shift now occurs at lower RPM compare to stock ROM with better power delivery. Shifts with stock ROM occurred above 2500RPM for 1st and 2nd and above 3000RPM for 3rd and 4th. With v2 shifts for 1st and 2nd occur around 2000RPM and 3rd and 4th around 2500RPM. I felt improved performance in 3rd and 4th gears were normally all driving occurs. Even when accelerating uphill, AT rarely downshifted from 4th to 3rd. Most of the time it was just happily sitting in 4th adding up some RPMs when I pushed it. Start from traffic lights became such fun! V2 was giving me such joy of looking at the faces of some unsuspecting victims trying to race me from the traffic lights.Driving for about two days I have noticed that car became more fuel efficient as well. On a normal week I was getting about 11.6L/100km city driving. After few days with v2 am getting 9.6L/100km in the city. I suspect it might get up a bit, but nevertheless it’s quite impressive reduction. Overall, great job once again. Thanks, Edward!”
Cheers,
Nick.
http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums...aru-legacy-outback-tuning-12.html#post1907570Wow Got my V3.0 Loaded and just raced my buddys Stage 2 02 WRX, and it was ridiculous! even without power braking it i had him by 5 car lengths before we hit 50mph. it looked like he wasn't even trying! Edward your tunes are Insane
it is so perfect now feels like a much lighter car, the passing gear kicks in at the perfect time for highway. its a very tame and capable machine in Drive, And when you put it in Sport it is crazy it revs the gears out in a way i could never imagine all while only giving it 1/3 Throttle. the manual shifting is almost instant now as apposed to the sec delay when stock, It also fels like i am more conected to the wheels all of that mushy feeling you get when you rev a 5eat is gone its truly feels like a stick now and is a blast to drive in any mode
also Edward was able to Diagnose bad plugs from my V1 logs that i have since replaced. the car was just at a Subaru Specialist Shop for a replacement engine and even they overlooked that in person !
this is truly worlds ahead of the Cobb tune i had previously
I'm not very tech savy and He has been able to remotely load my tunes over the internet. all i had to do was turn on the key and hook up the wires under the dash
on more amazing fact is that my Cobb tune was running well over 16psi with creep up into the 18's . i have seen graphs of my logs and im only running 14-15 psi now with very slight creep up to 16. that is just nutz that he is getting way more response and power with considerably less Boost
In closing if you don't already have an XRT tune, Stop saving for any other mods and pony up for an Xtreme Racing Tune, esp if you have the 5EAT !
http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums...aru-legacy-outback-tuning-12.html#post1908778Hello every one Update on my xrt tune as quoted above, from my end the car has felt great from V0.0 all the way to V6.0 each tune has been better than the last. Edward was able to diagnose mechanical problems better than the shop that just did my replacement engine. he had initialy told me to check for pre turbo exhaust leaks, and bad plugs, because the logs were suspect. I initialy replaced the plugs , and they were very bad, he was spot on there. i then recieved my V4 and Edward was still seeing a bit of ping so he insisted i re check the exhaust, I found a masive leak at the header to uppipe gasket. it was missing a 3rd of the gasket. after fixing this leak the car was running very strange i was even hitting fuel cut ! its hard to believe he was tuning around a leak that big and still getting great response and power! I let him know and he had me a new Rom ready for me in less than an hour, which was amazing cause i had to drive it for work. The V5 after the leak fix was incredible ! it spools so much faster now, I got my V6 loaded this afternoon and it is right on the money. So very happy with the services at XRT, ive already got a buddy with a WRX headed his way for Edward to work his magic. truth is he will need it to keep up with me these days
also guys an added bonus Edward has a line on custom Turbochargers that will Maximize the potential of these engines with zero negative effects, ibeleive they are almost 20g equivalent but spool faster than vf40, they are very affordable, and can even be used on a bone stock engine no mods besides turbo and tune not even injectors
so folks in closing from Mild to Wild XRT is where its at ! i will deff be back for more as my mod list gets bigger and wouldn't dream of letting anyone else touch my ROM
Thank you Edward Thank you Very much
Wow just tested my 0-60 after loading V7.0 and it is unreal 5.2 seconds !!!!!
with the same setup and a Cobb stage 2 tune it was 5.76 seconds
thats a full half sec faster to 60
for an Auto with a small vf40 i am quite impressed
best mod ever!
Thanks for the reply. I'll shoot you an email.Yes it can be returned to stock.
One don't have to tune for power. Just improve fuel economy and reduce pinging.
