Well I'm on V3 right now with Ed and I'm happy with the progress so far. I thought about throwing money at the OB for a new turbo and other parts, but I'm not sure I'll be keeping it too much longer.

I had originally planned to getting a new car and the new STI was on that list, but lack of hatch and the fact they kept the EJ in it turned me off. I'm also eyeing the MKVII VW Golf R, but it's not due until Q1 2015 at the earliest.

I figured I'd keep the OB for another year or so and then look to get something new.

Hey Ed, this looks like one of the better tunes in terms of torque and hp increase for the 3.0 What can I do to increase the likelihood of getting these kinds of gains when I get my 3.0 tuned? Spark plugs, air filter, etc.

Xtreme Racing Tuning ? View topic - PeteF - 2006 ADM Subaru Liberty 3.0R 6MT - Tuning

Not sure what you did with V3 however, the car feels stronger in lower RPM, so much so that I keep looking for 7th gear cause I'm not used to the car pulling so well in the higher gears from low RPM. I drive through a mountain pass that consists of corners with advisory speeds of between 15kph and 55kph to get to the flat where I do the log runs. When driving this pass the car feels like it is now leaping out of corners and I am able to higher gears through the corners. Fabulous!

BTW, I have an identified boost issue with Frank. And possibly an oil/by-pass issue.

And I haven't told Ed as of yet....since I got my last tune. v7.

The car feeling really nice. As I build by coffer for a BC and continue to log data for my own interest...I love my car.

Here is as good as place as any. Thanks. CK

Finally worthy of the "R" designation...part 1.

This is a brief pre-review of my currently in progress work with XRT . . . I'll post the full review under this topic when the tuning is completed.

Just wanted to pass on a quick update - I've spent the last week or so finally having my '08 3.0R e-tuned by XRT - and WOW!!!!

Originally, I was looking mainly to get rid of the frustrating 'lag' in my 5EAT equipped Outback (it seems we all get extra lag from the fly-by-wire e-gas pedal, and the stock 5EAT programming doesn't help), and any performance gains I ended up with I would just going to consider a bonus . . .

Well, from the very first ROM version he supplied - the lag had completely gone, replaced with "instant" throttle response - so much so, I'm in the process of re-learning my throttle, especially when backing into a parking spot!. The car drives much better, shifts more appropriately and 'feels' quicker and faster, using my well calibrated butt-dyno!

After the second ROM update produced some unexpected engine pinging, I looked at my fuel log and realized that I currently had 89 octane fuel in the tank (the premium pump was out of service last week). Having brought this to Edwards attention, he immediately sent me a 'safer' ROM to use for the lower grade fuel, and we stopped the ROM revisions for maximum performance until I could get the tank refilled with premium.

After some consideration, I decided to ask Edward go ahead and e-tune for the 89 octane fuel I was currently running on, and when I refill with premium fuel we could continue on the performance ROM tuning for premium fuel. (I decided to do the 89 octane tuning as well, so that I was covered regardless of what fuel I was using, having both 89 and 93 octane tuned ROMs for my car. This second set of tuning for the 89 octane was at additional expense, since I was essentially having Edward do two completely separate tunes - but for me, it was worth the extra effort)

Even now, on V3-89Octane ROM, my 3.0 now feels worthy of it's "R" designation - I can't wait 'till we can get back to tuning for premium fuel!

The actual process is much easier than I was prepared for - after a slight learning curve on my part with the ROMRaider and ECUFlash software, ROM flashes are done in moments and logging is as simple as taking a nice drive.

As for XRT, Edward is absolutely great to deal with - he responds to emails promptly via email or his Blackberry, has a genuinely professional work ethic, and he is a genius with ECU tuning.

We aren't quite finished the tuning process yet, just now finalizing the 89 octane tuning, then soon on to 93 octane tuning. Final engine and performance figures, and end result reviews are yet to come, and I'll post a more thorough review here at that time - but from the very first ROM revision - this e-tuning is more than worth the cost!!!! :29:

Cheers'

Dan

hey guys just wanted to check in and let you guys know i'm still loving my xrt tune, i even took it to a very prestigious trans shop, Meenan transmittion where i used to work and had my old boss drive it. he owns an 05 legacy gt with stage 2 parts a dyno tune and a transgo shift kit, he uses his LGT as an sca race car for driving instrucing. he very much aprooved ! and had a blast ripping it around, he said it pulled just about as hard as his an that the DBW tune was a great improvement over stock feel, both the pedal feel as well as the way the trans shifted, he said it wasn't quite as firm as a full on shift kit but reccomended both together. all and all a very worth while modification especialy when the price of a shift kit and dyno tune are way more than double the cost of Edwards service. much props to xrt, i will be back for more soon when i get some more parts installed !

Hello everyone!

I am still alive :)

Been busy tuning and my day work and family. So its been a little hard reviewing all forums. Below is a non usdm customer sending me his quick comments before I can even asked for it. I guess some people can get overly excited :)

Hi Ed,
That base tune is great.
The DBW feels natural and the actually the engine now does what I want it to do rather interpreting what I want.
Also the car feels like it pulls really well through the rev range.
Rather than the power dropping off at the top end, it feels like it want to keep on going.
The engine still has the odd lump/bump down low but I'm sure you will resolve that with further revisions.
Thanks

I am now pretty deep into Stage3 tuning I guess. Ed has been great. My car is a whole different animal. I haven't been able to really give her real 3/4 to full throttle due to fueling work we are doing. But my light...grandma pedal is literally "h*ll on wheels"

I have to get Ed my info...from today...regarding compression and logs. I am going out for one more session. Then I'll be getting the master his data.

I just can't say enough about Ed's service. This time I am actually trying to do my part better with logging. But I can't keep up. I got to bed. I have a new tune. I drop it I logs, I say I'm logging more...Before I get back to him...he is dropping me a new tune.

Rinse Repeat.

Like Neo...Ed is some kind of machine.

off to drop and log again...whrewh!!! My laptop battery can't keep up.
