I am looking around at some 2001-2004 OB's, preferably an H6 if I can find a good one. Does anyone know a Subaru specialist in the area who could perform a pre-purchase inspection? I could bring it to my usual mechanic, who does excellent work, but has no particular brand specialty, as another option.

Why don't you just take it to a dealer? Pre Purchase is probably the time to find out everything about the car. What will it cost? $200 Vs $100 at a local shop?

I would do that.

You don't need a Subaru badge certification to check out if the car is mechanically sound. Subaru's are "mechanics cars" meaning easy to work on and simple in design.

Nothing wrong with seeing a specialist but having an opinion you can trust is worth it's weight in GOLD!
