I have a 3.0 lt H6 Auto. The gearbox selects Reverse fine but no response when selecting drive or other forward gears. Happened just after |I got home and went to move it into yard. It has been a little hesitant recently when selecting drive. Any ideas please. Keith

any warning lights on or blinking"?

have you checked the fluid level?

pull and wipe the dipstick and set it aside, idle the car and shift into each gear for 5 seconds or so, then place in park. while idling, check the level with the dipstick. use the HOT lines if the car is at operating temp.

Hi, thanks for replies.

No warning lights.

Oil level fine.

Year 2001 not cvt auto.

Not been in wet so not damp. took wooden gear lever panel off all looks fine no loose wires.

When testing oil levels engine note changed, hey presto back in action.

Went out today, stopped after a few miles and wouldn't go into forward again!!.

Reversed halfway home and back on again.

Risked it and completed journey but very hesitant at times to go into gear.

It is a Mystery.

You have a fluid problem. Either pump, valve or low fluid. Make sure you're checking the transmission fluid and not the diff.

Your'e right I was checking filler on the right hand side of engine!!!.

Gave her a run this morning , working in all gears and selecting smoothly.

Checked correct dipstick when hot and if anything it is overfull but nice and clean.
