I've got a chance at a killer deal on some mounted Hakka R2's. Except they are for Gen 3 225/55-17

Will they bolt on?

yes,

you can mix and match whole sets of rims made from 2000-2014. (outback and legacy).
typical 2005-14 came with 17" but base 2005-2014 came with 16" 5x100, just like the 2000-04 cars had on all trims.

and the tires are all 225 in this case.

so if you can round them up cheap, great.
....but remember the 17" rim is more vulnerable to march potholes with the shorter sidewall on the tire.
(which is why 16" rims are better for snow tires,...and the 16" tires are cheaper too.)

Very good to hear. Thanks for the info. All of the data out there states that the 17's fit. But, sometimes the real world is different. Brake caliper interference, ect.

16 and 17" impreza / forester wheels work too, the year they stop and go to 5x114.3 is different around 2015 when each of their own cycles start and stop.

and the only ones you got to watch out for are some 16 and 17" WRX/STI,...and maybe antique SVX, poking around with 5x1114.3.
(but those would be expensively priced, vs. run of the mill 5x100 subaru rims).

and of course watch out for little 15" impreza rims, and anything earlier then 1999/2000. (legacy, forester, impreza had 15" and they won't fit over the 2000-2004 type legacy outback brakes).

Agree also interchange between gen2 16s / Gen3 17s wheels.

Also agree with 16s can go to a higher profile tyre (60 /65) - and cheaper with more choice and better for wheel protection (pothole etc) than 45 / 55 tyres.
I run 65 profile winter tyres on 16s - similar diameter / circumference to 55s on 17s ( summer tyres)

To the OP, yes, that will definitely work. Our '04 has 215/65r16 Hakka R2s, which are about 0.2" taller.

Only the mid-'02+ front brakes hit 15s, and even those can be modified with a little grinding. I did the mod on our '03, and swapped the front calipers with our '04 when I sold the '03 so I could keep running 15s.

5x114.3 Subarus are SVX, Tribeca, '05+ STi, '15+ WRX, and 15+ Legacy/Outback. All other 5-lug Subarus are 5x100. Offset changes a bit, but unless you're using really oversized tires, not really an issue.

Yes, they bolt on just fine. I have a slight rub at full left turn lock on the left tire, but other than that no issues with these '06 OB XT wheels and P225/55R17 General Altimax Arctic 12 tires on my '01 OB:

Nice, I puilled the 17's off my 11 Fozz to feed the 03 Outback. Gives me an excuse to go 18 on the fozzie anyway :)
