Hello,

While my rack was in storage, I lost the screws to secure the factory crossbars onto the roof, but have been unsuccessful in obtaining just the screws. Every place I've contacted says they can order the entire crossbar set, but that's quite expensive.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Do they have a special head or something? If not, I'm going to guess they're an M6 thread pitch, which you should be able to buy at any hardware store. They're so cheap, you'll spend more on gas driving to check them out and see if they'll work.

I'm afraid you're not likely to find this franken bolt anywhere other than a Subaru dealer or a junk yard.

It's M6-1.0 thread x 60mm long flat head with 6-lobe (Torx) drive.....that part is normal. Where it gets ugly is that 1) Special thread length, 2) oversized shank diameter for the unthreaded portion 3) a traditional flat head is "cone" shaped under the head....this thing is really "bowl" shaped and lastly 4) the torx drive is likely undersized for what would normally come on a flat head of this configuration.

Go to Home | Fastenal and type in "40949" in the search box. This will give you the closest thing for an off-the-shelf thing that you can find unless you scour the auto parts stores.

ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY NO GUARANTEED THAT THE ABOVE SUGGESTED PRODUCT WILL PERFORM LIKE THE FACTORY PART!!!!!

Disclaimer.....yes I do happen to work for Fastenal....no I'm not trolling for $0.50 cent sales.....just trying to be helpful.
