Hello Fellow Outback Owners,

I own a 2017 Outback 3.6R; I've noticed that I am experiencing "foggy" headlights. I did search the site and the internet and it appears to be oxidation, yellowing or hazing of the headlight. I've attached photos for a visual and please correct me if I am wrong.
The reason I am raising this topic again on his forum is that a lot of the solutions, previous posts, etc. are pertaining to the exterior of the headlight though my concerns are with the interior. Again, please see the photos for a visual reference.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this?
I appreciate your time and effort in advance.

You need to:
  1. Polish the headlight lenses.
  2. Apply ultraviolet light protective coating.
The WallyMart auto section has several choices for DIY options.

Personally, I prefer the superfine sandpaper option.... simply wet-sand the lens with progressively finer papers.
(P600 sandpaper → P1000 sandpaper → P2000 sandpaper → P3000 sandpaper)

After BOTH headlights are polished... open one of the UV coating packet and coat BOTH headlights.

In this way, I still have the second UV coating packet to do another vehicle. (Sandpaper and water is cheep)... finding UV protectant is what you really pay for.

I would not spend more than $20 for a polishing kit.
