Hey all,

New to this forum but have always grew up around Subarus in our family. i'm looking at a 2016 Outback limited with 70k miles. The dealer mentioned they are redoing the tranny and oil pan seals. I wanted to see if this was common at this stage in the cars life or something I should avoid.

A not-insignificant number of CVTs have developed fluid seeps at the cover plate for the oil pump drive chain, due to incompatibility between the CVT fluid and the particular sealant applied to the cover plate at the factory. (See TSB 16-103-16R.)

I don't know which "oil pan" you're talking about, but I haven't heard of recurrent problems with any of them.
