Just purchased a 2005 LL Bean Wagon from Subaru Dealership. Car has 225,000 miles on it and it was traded in by original owner who babied the car. Even went to this dealer for wipers. Really, it looks like brands new. I have just noticed a horrible high-pitched whine or screech when backing up. Goes away in forward. Dealer said they went over entire car before selling it and brakes were "OK". I have only put about 1000 miles on it since purchase in December. Could this be the brake wear indicators? No other issues. Have not tried to listen to see if it goes away if I let me foot off brake. Gonna go do that now. Any immediate thoughts?? Very hard to see brake pads on Subarus without pulling a wheel, unlike other cars I have had. Thanks in advance!
