I noticed a high pitched whistle (like a high freq tone noise) with the car idling at

a red light or in park. It can be heard inside the car and outside. I even tried

turning off the radio and still does it. Any ideas?

any work, mods, wrecks lately?

is it a squeal, buzz or true whistle?

Is it from under the hood? under the middle of the car?

I'd guess maybe the fuel pump? They can make a sound similar to what you describe...the noise is actually constant, but if it can be heard at all, it's usually only heard at idle because other noise drowns it out when moving or revving the engine.

My air conditioner makes a noise like you describe. On mine (MY2011, base 2.5i), it's probably harmonic ringing in the compressor walls. I only notice it when idling.

If your AC is on, try turning it off and see if the noise goes away.

Try turning off the fan, as well, if it's not the AC.
