Question, has anyone used a HITCH BED EXTENDER on an Outback? Looking for overall feasibility of using one; with both the bed, and the roof racks.

I've used mine with the roof racks to carry an extension ladder. Works well since the factory crossbars are so close together.

That's part of the reason I was curious. I plan to also occasionally haul lumber. And was hoping to use it in the down position to match bed height while doing that.

I have the HF version.

I haven't used it in the down orientation. I don't know how well the height matches.
I think worst case some mods to either add another set of holes or even chop off some of the "T" to let it sit lower would work. Note the HF model has the "T" slipping over the "L" so it is limited to how low it can be set by the length of the vertical portion.
