I have a 2001 Outback with 140K miles on the odometer. One day cruise control and horn stopped working, all of the other electrics are working fine. One suggestion is that it might be a roll coil. Any thoughts or suggestions?

it could be a fuse, check those. but it is probably the clock spring in / under the steering wheel. it allows the wiring to move from the column in to the steering wheel. not an uncommon problem. not too hard to replace.

To add a bit of info, based on the wiring diagram, the fuse for the horn relay also powers the Hazard lights. If hazard (emergency) lights work (when the ignition key is out), the fuse is fine. If not, it's fuse #6 (15A) in the engine compartment fuse box.

Thanks. It's not the fuse, I checked that. Thinking it might be the coil. Will look into that.

If the air bag warning light doesn't go out soon after starting, or comes on (particularly when tuning the steering wheel), odds are it's the clock spring (aka roll connector)
