On occasion someone posts a link to another post in a reply, but instead of it showing as the title of the linked thread, it appears as a different description.

For example, let's say I want to embed a link to my post #5 in this thread:

http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/104-gen-4-2010-present/49635-air-box-question.html.

With the actual "permalink" address for my particular post pasted in here:

http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/104-gen-4-2010-present/49635-air-box-question.html#post475697, we see, in terms of text it shows the original name of the thread, even though it will direct to my post.

Is there a way to attach a different text to the embedded link, so that, for example, the link would appear in the text as, say, "Added element in air box" but connect the reader to the actual post?

I'm not sure I've explained this clearly, but hope it's enough to provide an answer.

There are two ways, the first is the easiest.

Make sure you are in the advanced reply mode. Then type out the text you want it to display:

Added element in air box

Then highlight/select that text. While it is selected, click on "insert link" on the toolbar above. It's the globe with a link. A prompt box will display in which you paste the address of the post. In this case "http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/104-gen-4-2010-present/49635-air-box-question.html" Click ok. It should look like this below:

Added element in air box

The second method is to actually type out the code:

Thanks ever so much. Simple enough, now that it's explained. Much appreciated.

And good going on the MAP cleaning! Welcome back.
