I just got a 2016 outback limited. I bought some 17 inch Motegi Racing MR118 and am now looking for tires for them.

I was going to go with the Cooper Discoverer AT3 but am concerned about gas millage. 95% of my driving will be on pavement, but I like the look of the all terrain tires and like the idea of having them when/if I need them.

Would I gain much in fuel economy by going with a tire more suitable for pavement like these Cooper Discoverer HTP

Any other suggestions on tires? I was also considering lifting it 2 inches, again mostly because of the look, but also just in case I ever need it. How much will this reduce my gas millage? More or less that a roof rack? None at all?

what is the weight difference between stock vs your ideal rim/tire combo?

rule of thumb...4lbs of rotating mass ~= 1hp.

and that's before figuring areo drag.
That is a good question. I have the stock 18 inch wheels and firestone champion fuel fighter tires at the moment.

after a little more searching i like the Geolander g015 too. Maybe more than the discoverer at3, but I now nothing about tires. I'm just judging my the looks and price.
