2002 VDC H6 The existing tensioner shaft is ruined so I need to replace the tensioner.
I have been unable to access the bolt under the PS unit to remove the tensioner. Do I need to remove the PS pump or can it be loosened and moved sufficiently to gain access? Or??? I have very modest mech ability so detailed instructions would be appreciated!

Thanks

It is possible to loosen the ps pump without removing it to replace your tensioner. However, it proved easier for me to totally unbolt the pump (without disconnecting any hoses or lines) and then do my replacement. One tip though, the job goes much smoother if you have someone hold the pump in their hands (yours will be busy!) so that you can get to the bolts that hold the tensioner. This also keeps the pump from moving any more than it has to be.
