I've got a 2013 Outback. My "low tire pressure" warning light went on today and I found a small nail in the driver's side rear tire. I keep a plug kit and a small compressor in my car, so I took out the nail and plugged the tire. A few hours later I came back to see how the plug was doing (I had not driven the car since the plugging) and I heard a quite humming coming from the wheel well. It sounded enough like my compressor (only quieter) that I actually looked to make sure I hadn't left it plugged in and running in the car (I hadn't). I don't hear the noise inside the car and it's not coming from any of the other wheel wells.
Any thoughts?
