I thought this was a giant slug until I pulled it out to inspect it closer. It turns out it's some sticky backed foam lining. I think the sticky part is catching my windshield sun shade and pulling out.

Does anybody know what the purpose of this foam is and is it a problem if it's gone and removed from the area in between the lower part of my windshield and my dash?

My wife鈥檚 Forester did the same thing. I think it helps to maybe prevent rubbing noises/rattles between the plastic dash and windshield. Dealer just reseated it for me.

If it were a slug, it definitely wouldn't be "giant".

Come visit the Pacific Northwest sometime, and you'll see what "giant" means. :)
Yes, some of the ones in my yard could make a living in the Porn world! Sorry if this seems a bit off color but you outta see them . . .
