Those shops have fleet contracts, there is no way they would survive otherwise.Yet you can go to any large city and find automatic transmission shops that have been in business for decades. A couple near me have been in business for 50+ years.
Traditional automatic transmissions seem to fail more not than ever. Auto makers are now fitting 8,9 and 10 speeds in the same space that used to be occupied by 3 and 4 speeds. What could go wrong?
On paper, the CVT should be a more reliable transmission. It is a simpler design......until engineers start mucking with it and add things like fake shift points.
