I need to get a replacement key and remote for my 2005 VDC (sidecut key, with immobilizer). The car came with the keys and remotes separate, but for the replacement I wanted to get an integrated key/remote (like what the 2009 Outback came with). Both these keys are sidecut w/immobilizer, but none of the dealers I've talked to will guarantee it will work (although one was willing to try it, at my expense).

Should this combination work? Has anyone done or tried this? Were there differences in key blanks available, or in immobilizer or remote coding between 2005 and 2009, that would prevent this combination from working?

Thanks everyone!

PS: Here's the document where I found the various keys available, with descriptions: https://subaru.locksmithsdrm.com/sr-sdrm/subaru_replacement_key_info.pdf
