My 2014 Outback will occasionally shake the steering wheel violently when slowing from highway speed with normal braking. Brakes have been checked and cleared, they and work smoothly at all other speeds and situations. Control arms and tie rods have been visually inspected with no signs of being loose. Steering is normal in all other situations, and the car drives straight and consistent handles correctly in all other situations. Fluid levels are all good. Vehicle has only 50K miles. Gotta love intermittent issues!

Would love to know if anyone has had this happen and what the resolution was. Thx.

Brake Booster? Brake master? Transmission?

I know you said the brakes have been checked but I would have the rotors checked. I get issues like this with cars with old rotors on the front pretty often. I would also check wheel balance and tires. Shaking during braking at certain speeds is really hard to pin down.

If this happens without applying the brakes, maybe a rack / power steering boost issue?
