In the middle of a HG job on my EJ25D.
HGs had been done before using FelPro MLS so I've had to scrape lots of blue smurf guts off my block.. :)
Car did NOT overheat ever but exhaust was in the coolant and it eventually started steaming and leaking.

Heads are getting machined but block stays assembled with me so I am trying to clean it as best I can in preparation for the new OEM Subaru -AA610 MLS.

Scraped the easy stuff with razor and have been going to town with brake cleaner and green scotchbrite, my go-tos for Porsche (composite) head gaskets but this is my first Subaru and first MLS job.

Are these surfaces clean enough for the MLS? Very smooth to the touch, nothing catches a nail.

Thanks.
I posted this on NASIOC as well and someone questioned if I had checked the block for flatness.
All I've got handy is a stainless ruler, and everything looks good there :D

Any ideas on a more accurate home-garage straight edge?
