98 JDAM motor with "60/70,000" miles on it is running well in my 252,000 miles Outback with new head gaskets. Does the ex. Japan domestic EJ25 motor run a higher compression ratio than the USA models? It seems to have more poke above 3,000 rpm and has a slightly lumpy idle at 650 rpm (A/C off), as if it has slightly hotter cams. No check engine lights or other problems.
