hi all just got a 2000 outback wasgan with 99,750 miles


needs some Tlc but thats the way it goes with used cars.

list of things i am starting with.

1 changing fluids trans and differentials
2. timing belt and water pump.
3. check plugs and wires.

looks clean!

check the axle boots for splits. Lift the strut boots and feel for oil on top of the cyls.

Looks sharp.

For the TB job, make sure you change all the tensioners and pulleys as well. Better safe than valve damage here.

Would also suggest replacing the crank and cam seals and resealing oil pump.

Pull the motor and do the seperator plate too. might as well do it all if you plan on keeping it.

replacing the separator plate is way overkill, no need to pull the engine.

ebay timing belt kits are the way to go - all new pulleys and tensioner. theimportexperts sells great kits.

be sure to inspect the headgaskets, they are prone to external leaks on this vintage EJ25. the coolant requires a Subaru coolant conditioner so if you drain it before to add the magic $2.49 bottle.
